No April fool - major changes to UK electricity charges from 1st of April 2018

The good news is that average wholesale power prices are predicted to decline steadily for the next five years!  The bad news is that non- commodity changes (network/distribution costs), which currently now make up less than half of the power bill are set to increase to approximately 66% in the next few years.

Three major changes to non-commodity charges take effect on April 1st 2018.  In particular, going over your "set capacity" will incur very large increases.

Our interpretation is that you have two options, reducing energy consumption by optimising large compressors/HVAC plant or investing in avoidance through other methods.
